Hi there!, I just wanted to add here a small recap of what I have been doing in the past two months:
In October I was DJing on Casa Jager, a wild party organized by Jägermeister. The secret party was on a big chalet outside Madrid with some cool bands playing there such as Health, Juanita y los Feos or my new discovering, The Cobras a savage electro-something duo from Galicia. My dj set was an all around rock & roll set, it was big fun. You can listen to a selection of the tracks I played there in this Spotify playlist.
Also, in November I did a gig in the reformed Sala Siroco, which now has a super cool lounge bar with awesome cocktails. The sound is awesome too and it’s great to DJ in this place. I think they are revolutionizing the night scene in madrid with some cool parties they are hosting. The set here was mainly composed of soul, funk and disco, and there is an Spotify playlist for it too, check it out here.
I will be doing more gigs in the following months and posting cool stuff, stay tuned on my twitter account @therobot or my Facebook page.
I am very happy to introduce to yourselves, my dear audience my latest effort, a summer rock mixtape. Probably is not summerish in the traditional sense, probably is not rock as you may thought, or the opposite, let me know.
Anyway.
You can listen to the mixtape below, you can download the thing here for your offline enjoyment or you can listen to the unmixed tracks in the spotify version.

A good friend of mine recomended me the band named Big Blood, they play some very nice intimist folk music. I wanted to share this information with the readers of this blog :)
It’s even better, they have their albums on Free Music Archive (a great place to find new music, tough) so you can listen or download their music for free.
I have not listened all of their (thirteen!) albums, but Dark Country Magic sounds great, you should listen to it. And don’t forget to donate some money to the band if you can, they’ll appreciate it.
am I the only one that sees the similarities between the fourth song of latest DCFC album and the prototypical “motorik” style developed by the awesome band Neu! in the seventies?
I am not saying at all that this is a bad thing, on the contrary I think finding inspiration on Neu!’s sound and adapting to DCFC’s own completely works. I am completely enjoying Codes & Keys, maybe not their most inspired album but very consistent and worked out.
This blog has idled for a year. But apart from the casual laziness I have a very good reason for this absence. If you haven’t heard about it yet I’m very proud to show to the readers of this blog my latest project: beattaster
We are trying to show to the world that there’s electronic talent in Spain. We are also trying to bring some international awesome new talents to Madrid. Beattaster wants to achieve this in two forms: as a live videocast of an event performed by our selected artists which is held on an undisclosed location in Madrid; also, soon after the event we will upload to our soundcloud the audio recording of the show.
Yesterday was our first event, it was a great experience to organize it, REC_Overflow‘s performance was truly awesome, we are quite glad to have him here. In the following days we will announce the artist and date of the next beattaster show.
I been loving them for more than a year and I think it’s about time to dedicate them a blog post.
Wooden Shjips music can be describe as dense, repeatitive, psychedelic rock with long songs and lots of personality. Influenced by Spacemen 3, The Velvet Underground and other sonic monsters of the like.
Watch below Motorbike, a great song included in their second album named “Dos”.
This thursday night I will be playing music at Sala Ra! Ra! Ra! with Dj Arbusto from Acapulco Club Madrid in a party called Robots vs Arbustos. Expect happy music: indie, rock, electronica, stuff that will make you dance. You can have an advance of what’s coming on my previous post
The place is located at C/ Serrano 41. Entrance is free, the show starts at 23:30.
UPDATE: I am no longer happy with the result of this mixtape, you know that time always put everything in its place. I decided to delete it.
Hi to everybody!
I have decided to start recording mixtapes again under the moniker Robot Plays Guitar. The style is more or less the same that I used to dj some years ago: some indie, some electro, some house, some hip-hop too. All mixed together. This is happy music you can sing and dance.
I’ll make an exception and I’ll choose more than the usual 12 songs, this year has been so exceptional that 12 songs are not enough to fill it. Some songs are new, others are old, in my opinion publication year does not matter, what matters is the music, and the meaning in your life.
Recently I’ve been attracted about a kind of musical subgenre which seems inspired by Ennio Morricone‘s western soundtracks and tex-mex music. To this mix you have to add some rock and you have epic songs with trumpets, guitars and great instrumentation.
This is the track list included in the compilation:
As every year, but with the main difference that this year I’m doing it on time, this is the post that covers my list of favorite albums for 2009. Most of them have been released this year, but this is not compulsory. My year in music has been quite interesting, good discovering, mostly music that came from the North American folk scene and sub-genres like New Weird America and other acoustic bastard sons. My biggest disapointment came from the neo-psychedelic scene, many bands (Weird Owl, Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound to name a couple) have new albums but way way less interesting than their previous releases. One exception to this is the magnificent album called “Dos” from Wooden Shjips which of course is on the list. Also not too much metal or doom this year, just Orthodox and Earth.
So, the albums, I choose twelve, one for every month, order has no meaning. Enjoy.
The Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound – Ekranoplan.

Vinyl kills the mp3 Industry
En fin, que estoy encantado con estos vinyl dealers, asi que ya sabeis:
